Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from ETH Zurich. Started a PhD in microelectronics packaging
1997
Co-founded u-blox AG together with 2 other PhD students from ETH Zurich. Initial professional focus on embedded firmware on third-party (and later own) GNSS receiver chips
2006
Recognized by GPS World Magazine as one of “50 leaders to watch”
2007
u-blox IPO at Swiss stock exchange, ticker symbol UBXN.
2010
Started activities as a Business angel in the Zurich/Switzerland area, with focus on hardware and software companies
2011
Took over full responsibility for u-blox’ GNSS receiver product lines (chips, modules, software), as “Head of product center Positioning”
2013
Initiator and primary driver of u-blox’ strategy to enter the high precision / RTK Market (marketed as u-blox’ F9 product line such as the ZED-F9P, ZED-F9K, and the chips powering those modules)
2015
Lead in creating a strategy and plan for serving GNSS products to the autonomous driving (and other safety critical systems) markets, with main focus on precision, safety and security. Forming partnerships with leading industry players (u-blox’ t.b.a. product line for autonomous driving ASIL-B)
2016
Thought leader and project manager for creating an international 4-party joint-venture Sapcorda, a company offering global, high-quality GNSS correction data services including safety. Main negotiator and business responsible, also bootstrapping the JV.
Received the 2016 GPS World Leadership Award “For achieving a leading company position with GNSS chips and modules for automotive, M2M and IoT applications as well as a recently announced mass-market L1 RTK in a single-package solution.”
2019
Left u-blox early 2019, because “change is good”. At the time of leaving, the u-blox GNSS products are dominant in many high-volume market segments, and represent the biggest contributor to u-blox’ overall financial performance.
Intensified Business Angel activities with a handful of active coaching and support mandates
Founded dammven GmbH in July 2019 and started consulting activities for global GNSS companies
